Required Experience:
- Project Coordination: Ability to plan and estimate basic engineering development tasks including design, prototype fabrication, testing and documentation.
- Design Innovation: Ability to develop feasible designs from rough sketches and concepts with minimum supervision.
- Design Development: Work with vendors to fabricate prototypes and conduct engineering tests. Work with Production to ensure smooth implementation of design changes.
- Cost Reduction: Provide proposal input for cost reduction design alternatives and estimate required man-hours for design changes, prototype/testing costs and schedule forecasts.
- Change Orders: Generate Engineering Change Orders and coordinate implementation tasks with Production and Marketing organizations.
- RGA Support: Assist in the Returned Goods testing process and provide in-depth failure analysis, documentation and reporting to upper management/customers as required.
CORE COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient with CAD (SolidWorks).
- Capable of making and checking detail and layout drawings.
- Familiar with DFA/DFM for commercial, low-cost, high volume products.
- Detailed failure analysis for root cause investigations.
- Experience with injection molding and materials converting.
- Strong communication skills - both verbal and written.
- Verbal and writing proficiency in English.
- Team player requiring minimal supervision.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering required. A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years experience in new product development. Production or manufacturing engineering experience a plus. Must be a creative problem solver able to demonstrate a history of personal initiative, and have the ability to work in early stage cross-functional teams, with strong communication skills.
